Truck toll calculator Europe 2026: toll per km by country
The German truck toll (Lkw-Maut) in 2026 is €0.348 per km for an articulated lorry over 18 t with five or more axles, Euro VI and CO2 class 1: €0.155 infrastructure, €0.023 air pollution, €0.012 noise and €0.158 CO2 (Annex 1 BFStrMG). The same lorry pays €0.5724 per km in Austria (excluding VAT) and, above 32 t, €0.156 per km in the Netherlands since 1 September 2026 (a 22.3% discount until the end of the year). The calculator adds these official rates for your kilometres in each country. In Logistivo, hauliers answer loads from their network with a price per vehicle, and the toll can go on the invoice for the load as a separate line.

Your route: toll per country and for the whole trip
Your route: toll per country and for the whole trip — Enter kilometres per country and pick the vehicle class – the calculator applies the official 2026 toll rates and shows the toll per country and in total.
The calculator itself applies distance-based tolls in Germany, Austria (including section tolls), the Netherlands, Belgium (Flanders, Wallonia, Brussels), Poland, Czechia, Slovakia, Denmark, Switzerland (LSVA) and on Autostrade per l’Italia motorways. For France, Spain, Portugal, Croatia, Slovenia, Hungary, Bulgaria and Turkish motorways you enter the amount from the operator’s own calculator; fixed bridge tolls (Türkiye, Romania) count as crossings. Romania and the United Kingdom charge by time (rovinietă, HGV levy). The trip date selects the valid Dutch tariff period.
Technically permissible maximum mass (vehicle or combination) — For articulated lorries and drawbar combinations, the sum of the individual vehicles – that is how Germany (§ 1 BFStrMG) and the Netherlands count it. Switzerland counts at most 40 t.
Axles (tractor + trailer) — Austria bands by 2, 3 and 4+ axles; Germany, above 18 t, by up to 3, 4 and 5+ axles.
CO2 emission class — Class 1 without proof; 5 = zero-emission.
Euro emission class — Matters mainly in CO2 class 1.
Trip date — Selects the Dutch tariff period (discount 1 Sep–31 Dec 2026, 2027 announced).
2 · 3 · 4 · 5 · 6+ (6 or more axles)
VI · V/EEV · IV · III · II · I · 0 (no Euro class)
1 (in Germany also without proof) · 2 · 3 · 4 · 5 (zero-emission)

Basic formula — Toll per country = kilometres on tolled roads × the per-km rate for the vehicle class; fixed charges (section tolls, bridges) × number of passages; time-based charges = price of the period × quantity.
Germany — Rate = infrastructure + air pollution + noise + CO2 by weight and axle band; CO2 class 5 exempt until 30 June 2031; without proof CO2 class 1 applies. — § 1, § 3, § 5 and Annex 1 BFStrMG
Austria — Per-km rate by 2, 3 or 4+ axles and emission class; section-toll stretches as a fixed amount per passage (do not add their kilometres); amounts exclude 20% VAT. — ASFINAG GO-Maut tariffs 2026
Netherlands — Period by trip date: 1 Jul–31 Aug 2026 base rates, 1 Sep–31 Dec 2026 with a 22.3% discount, 2027 announced rates; no heffing before 1 July 2026. The Euro class only counts in CO2 class 1. — vrachtwagenheffing.nl
Belgium, Poland, Czechia, Slovakia, Denmark — Per-km rate by region or road class, weight band, Euro class and (except Poland) CO2 class; Denmark only from 12 t, plus a surcharge in low emission zones.
Switzerland — LSVA = km × relevant weight (max. 40 t) × rate per tonne-kilometre (Euro 6: 2.39 Rp., Euro 0–5: 3.26 Rp.); zero-emission lorries currently exempt. — BAZG, LSVA calculation
Italy (ASPI) — km × unit tariff of the class (2 axles = B, 3, 4, 5+ axles = 5), lowland or mountain, including 22% VAT, rounded to €0.10. — Autostrade per l’Italia
Türkiye, Romania — Bridges and Avrupa Otoyolu by KGM class (4 and 5 axles = class 4); rovinietă by weight, axles and period; Fetești bridge per crossing.
United Kingdom — HGV levy from 12 t: band A up to 31 t, B up to 38 t, C above; Euro 6 or older; per day, week, month or year. — GOV.UK
Currencies — Amounts in PLN, CZK, DKK, CHF, GBP, RON, TRY and HUF are converted into euro at the ECB reference rate of the latest publication day; you can edit the rate. Without a rate the section is left out of the euro total.
Channel ports to Poland — Example values: 40 t, 5 axles, Euro VI, CO2 class 1 · Flanders 110 km · Germany 620 km · Poland 300 km motorway (A/S).
Rotterdam to northern Italy via Switzerland — Example values: NL 60 km · DE 540 km · CH 280 km (LSVA, 40 t) · IT 60 km lowland (ASPI).
Non-UK lorry in Britain for three days — Example values: HGV levy, band C, Euro 6, three single days.
What drives the toll price — Four levers move the rate per km – on the left the German toll for your vehicle split into its components, on the right the same weight and axle class in seven countries by CO2 class (Euro VI).
CO2 class — In Germany the CO2 component is the largest single item for a heavy lorry: €0.158 of €0.348 per km. Class 4 almost halves it (€0.079), class 5 is exempt until 30 June 2031. Without proof, class 1 applies.
Weight and axles — Germany bands by weight (3.5 / 7.5 / 12 / 18 t) and, above 18 t, by axles; Austria only by axles (2 / 3 / 4+); the Netherlands, Belgium and Denmark by weight bands; Switzerland multiplies by the weight itself.
Euro class — For a 5-axle lorry above 18 t, the German air pollution component ranges from €0.023 (Euro VI) to €0.187 (Euro I and older) per km; in Austria, Euro 0–III with 4+ axles pay €0.6654 instead of €0.5724.
Road and region — Poland: from 12 t and at least Euro 5, PLN 0.56 per km on A/S and PLN 0.42 on GP/G; Czechia: motorway or class I road; Belgium: Flanders, Wallonia, Brussels motorway or urban area; Denmark: surcharge in low emission zones.
This toll belongs in every quote – and on every invoice — In Logistivo you answer loads from your network with a freight price per vehicle – the toll calculated here is part of it. Drivers scan toll receipts on the road with the Logistivo app; tolls paid with fuel cards such as DKV or UTA are not charged to the driver. On the invoice for the load, the toll is its own line.
For carriers — Loads from your network in one list, quote as a price per vehicle. — /en/carrier
Driver app and receipts — Scan the toll receipt, AI reads it, converted at the receipt date’s rate. — /en/carrier/drivers
Invoicing and accounting — Invoice on the load, toll as its own line, automatic posting. — /en/accounting-invoicing
What the calculator assumes
Kilometres are the kilometres on tolled roads that you enter; the calculator does not plan a route.
What counts is the technically permissible maximum mass (the sum for combinations), not the weight of the cargo.
Operators round per toll section; the calculator uses your kilometre total, so differences of a few cents are possible.
Amounts appear as the source states them (with or without VAT); each country line says which.
CO2 classes 2 to 4 require Euro VI; class 5 means zero-emission.
What it does not calculate
France, Spain, Portugal, Croatia, Slovenia, Hungary, Bulgaria and other Turkish motorways: enter the amount from the operator’s calculator – there is no national per-km rate that could be stored here.
Italy: Autostrade per l’Italia only; other concessionaires have their own tariffs (enter them under “Other toll”).
Austria: the A 13 from Innsbruck-Wilten is not included; buses and motorhomes are not calculated.
Netherlands 2027: announced, not yet official amounts.
Annual discounts (Czechia, Slovakia) and fines are not calculated.
All rates come from the linked official sources, retrieved on 27 September 2026. The toll operator’s billing and the law in force are decisive; the calculator does not replace a toll statement.
Germany: Lkw-Maut per km from four components — Motor vehicles and combinations over 3.5 t technically permissible maximum mass that are intended or used for road haulage pay the toll on federal motorways and federal roads. The rate per km is the sum of infrastructure, air pollution, noise and CO2.
Who pays — Lorries and combinations over 3.5 t; for combinations the individual vehicles are added up, and the toll applies only if the motor vehicle itself is over 3.5 t (§ 1 BFStrMG).
Where — Federal motorways and federal roads; toll-free include the A 6 from the French border to Saarbrücken-Fechingen and the A 5 from the border to Müllheim/Neuenburg.
How to pay — Automatically with an on-board unit or via the TollNow app for registered customers; online advance booking also without registration (Toll Collect).
Exempt — Zero-emission heavy goods vehicles until 30 June 2031; vehicles under 7.5 t used by craftsmen under the conditions of § 1(2) no. 10.
Without proof — Highest infrastructure rate, air category F and CO2 class 1 (§ 5 BFStrMG).
Status — BFStrMG as last amended by the Act of 15 May 2026.

What changed in 2025 and 2026 — The key dates for truck tolls in Europe, each from the official source.
2024 / 2026 · EU — CO2 and air costs become mandatory — Since 2024, tolls and vignettes for heavy-duty vehicles must vary by CO2 emissions; from 2026, tolls must include the external cost of air pollution (Directive 1999/62/EC as amended by 2022/362).
01.01.2025 · DK — Kilometre toll from 12 t — Lorries from 12 t pay per km by CO2 class; the government intends to extend it to the whole public road network (approx. 75,000 km) from 1 January 2028.
01.07.2025 · SK — Toll with CO2 class — New rates under Government Regulation 418/2024: infrastructure plus CO2 plus air pollution.
01.10.2025 · CH — Recording obligation for electric lorries — Electrically powered vehicles over 3.5 t in goods transport must record their mileage; they are exempt from the LSVA, probably until the end of 2028.
01.01.2026 · AT — GO-Maut tariffs 2026 — 4+ axles, Euro VI, CO2 class 1: €0.5724 per km excluding VAT; Brenner €57.65 by day, €110.34 at night.
01.01.2026 · CZ · IT — New version and tariffs — Czechia: Government Regulation 240/2014 Coll. in the version from 1 January 2026. Italy: ASPI unit tariffs 2026, class 5 lowland €0.19034 per km including VAT.
01.02.2026 · PL — New e-TOLL rates — From 12 t and at least Euro 5: PLN 0.56 per km on A/S, PLN 0.42 on GP/G.
01.04.2026 · UK — HGV levy raised in line with inflation — Band C, Euro 6: £9.67 per day, £619 per year.
15.05.2026 · DE — BFStrMG last amended — In this version, the Annex 1 components and the exemption for zero-emission heavy goods vehicles until 30 June 2031 apply.
01.07.2026 · NL — Vrachtwagenheffing starts — Lorries over 3,500 kg pay per km; an on-board unit is mandatory.
01.07.2026 · BE — CO2 surcharge in Flanders — The Flemish kilometre charge also depends on the CO2 class; above 32 t the rate falls from €0.285 (CO2 1) to €0.038 (zero-emission).
01.07.2026 · TR — New bridge tariffs — Class 4: Yavuz Sultan Selim TRY 690, Osmangazi TRY 2,950, 1915 Çanakkale TRY 2,925, including KDV.
01.09.2026 · NL — 22.3% discount until year end — Above 32 t, Euro 6, CO2 class 1: €0.156 instead of €0.201 per km until 31 December 2026.
2027 · NL — Rates announced — Above 32 t, Euro 6, CO2 class 1: €0.206 per km – not yet officially set.
How much is the truck toll in Germany per km in 2026?
For an articulated lorry over 18 t with five or more axles, Euro VI and CO2 class 1, it is €0.348 per km; with four axles €0.324. Above 18 t with up to three axles you pay €0.303, 12 to 18 t €0.238, 7.5 to 12 t €0.177 and 3.5 to 7.5 t €0.151.
The rate is the sum of four components in Annex 1 BFStrMG: infrastructure, air pollution, noise and CO2. For the 40 t, 5-axle lorry that is 0.155 + 0.023 + 0.012 + 0.158 = €0.348; 500 km of motorway therefore cost €174.00.
An older lorry pays more mainly through the air category: Euro V sits in category B (€0.062 instead of €0.023) and has a higher CO2 component (€0.160) – €0.389 per km in total.
3.5– — € per km: 0.151 | 500 km: €75.50
7.5– — € per km: 0.177 | 500 km: €88.50
12–18 t — € per km: 0.238 | 500 km: €119.00
>18 t · ≤3 axles — € per km: 0.303 | 500 km: €151.50
>18 t · 4 axles — € per km: 0.324 | 500 km: €162.00
>18 t · ≥5 axles — € per km: 0.348 | 500 km: €174.00

The toll belongs in the price per vehicle — In Logistivo, carriers see loads from their network in one list and quote a freight price per vehicle; the total follows from the number of vehicles. Working out the route’s toll first keeps it from disappearing into the price.

Germany, Austria, the Netherlands (since 1 July 2026), Belgium, Poland, Czechia, Slovakia and Denmark (from 12 t) have a national rate per km; Switzerland charges per tonne-kilometre. Hungary (HU-GO) and Slovenia (DarsGo) also charge electronically by distance, but through section tariffs.
France, Spain, Portugal, Croatia and Türkiye charge per section between entry and exit; so does Italy, where Autostrade per l’Italia publishes a unit tariff per km. Romania and the United Kingdom charge lorries by time.

How does the CO2 class change the toll?
In Germany the CO2 component makes up almost half of the toll for a 40 t articulated lorry: €0.158 of €0.348 per km. In CO2 class 4 it falls to €0.079 and the total rate to €0.269; zero-emission lorries (class 5) are fully exempt until 30 June 2031.
CO2 emission classes 1 to 5 come from the EU road charging directive 1999/62/EC (Art. 7ga). Without proof Germany charges class 1; classes 2 and 3 are re-determined every six years from first registration.
Other countries band by CO2 too: Austria with 4+ axles from €0.5724 (class 1) via €0.5091 (class 4) to €0.1189 (zero-emission), the Netherlands above 32 t since 1 September 2026 from €0.156 to €0.030, Flanders above 32 t from €0.285 to €0.038. The matrix above shows the rates for your vehicle.
What does the Dutch truck toll cost from July 2026?
Since 1 July 2026 a lorry over 32 t with Euro 6 and CO2 class 1 pays €0.201 per km; from 1 September to 31 December 2026 a 22.3% discount applies, bringing it to €0.156. For 18 to 32 t it is €0.182 or €0.141, for 12 to 18 t €0.160 or €0.125.
The heffing applies to lorries over 3,500 kg on almost all motorways and some provincial and municipal roads. What counts is the technical maximum mass of the combination, the CO2 emission class and, in class 1, the Euro class; a Euro 0 lorry over 32 t pays €0.379 per km with the discount.
2027 amounts have been announced but not yet officially set – above 32 t, Euro 6, CO2 class 1: €0.206. The calculator uses them only for trips from 1 January 2027 and marks them as announced.
Do I need an OBU for each country?
Not for every one, but for several: Austria requires the GO-Box or an approved unit, the Netherlands an on-board unit with a Dutch contract, and Belgium, Slovakia and Slovenia a unit as well. Germany accepts the TollNow app and online advance booking as well as an OBU, and Poland the e-TOLL PL app.
An EETS provider covers several countries with one unit – which ones is set out in the contract. The Netherlands state explicitly that Toll Collect and Satellic units do not work there. Denmark accepts a provider’s GNSS equipment or a digital KmToll ticket, Switzerland NETS or EETS units and, for foreign vehicles without equipment, manual declaration (NMTS). The UK levy needs no unit – it is paid online before entering.
Hungary — Unit: On-board device | Alternative: Route ticket before the journey
United Kingdom — Unit: – | Alternative: Pay the levy before entering
Toll receipts belong to the trip — In the Logistivo driver app, drivers scan receipts – tolls included – with their phone; the AI reads them and the amount is converted into your company currency at the rate of the receipt date. Tolls paid with a fuel or toll card such as DKV, UTA or Eurowag are billed by the card provider to the company – they are not recorded as a debt of the driver.
How much is the UK HGV levy in 2026?
From 1 April 2026 a Euro 6 HGV over 38 t (band C) pays £9.67 per day, £30.95 per week, £61.90 per month or £619 per year; band A (12,000–31,000 kg) pays £3.22 per day and band B (31,001–38,000 kg) £7.74. Euro 5 or older vehicles pay more, band C £10.74 per day.
The levy applies to non-UK HGVs of 12,000 kg or more for every day they use an A or M road, and must be paid before entering the UK; UK-registered HGVs pay it with their vehicle excise duty. Without a valid levy there is a £300 roadside fine. The M6 Toll and the Dartford Crossing are charged on top.

Where Logistivo takes over from the toll calculator
Where Logistivo takes over from the toll calculator — The toll is one line of the trip – in Logistivo it sits where the quote, the receipt and the invoice already are.
Quote per vehicle — Loads from your network arrive in one list; you quote the freight price per vehicle and the total follows from the number of vehicles.
Toll receipt by phone — The driver scans the receipt in the app, the AI reads it, the amount is converted at the receipt date’s rate into EUR, USD or TRY and approved by the fleet manager.
Fuel cards kept separate — Amounts paid with DKV, UTA, Eurowag and other cards are billed by the card provider to the company; they do not end up as a debt on the driver’s account.
Toll on the invoice — Invoices are created directly on the load, with free-text lines including quantity, unit price and tax rate; when you issue one, Logistivo posts it automatically to double-entry accounting.
Calculate the toll, quote, keep receipt and invoice in one place
Create a free Logistivo account: answer loads from your network with a price per vehicle, capture your drivers’ toll receipts in the app and invoice the toll as its own line on the load.

A 40 t articulated lorry with five axles, Euro VI and CO2 class 1 pays €0.348 per km, with four axles €0.324. What counts is not the actual weight but the technically permissible maximum mass and the number of axles.
Do empty trips pay the toll?
In Belgium and Denmark explicitly yes – loaded or empty. In Germany the test is whether the vehicle is intended or used for road haulage (§ 1 BFStrMG), so a lorry’s empty runs are not excluded.
Where do I find my lorry’s CO2 emission class?
The class follows from the CO2 values under EU Directive 1999/62/EC (Art. 7ga); the European Commission publishes the thresholds. For Dutch plates it is shown in the RDW registration check (code V7). Without proof, Germany charges class 1.
Is VAT charged on tolls?
It varies: Austria quotes the GO-Maut excluding 20% VAT, Wallonia levies a fee with VAT, Flanders and Brussels a tax without VAT; Slovakia quotes rates excluding VAT, Denmark charges no VAT, and the Italian ASPI tariffs include 22% VAT. The calculator shows the rates as published.
How does the calculator convert other currencies?
At the ECB reference rate of the latest publication day; the rate is shown next to the total and can be edited. If no rate is available, the section stays out of the euro total – no rate of 1 is assumed.
Can Logistivo keep the toll with each load?
Yes, in three places: in the freight price per vehicle you quote on a load in Logistivo, in the toll receipt the driver scans in the Logistivo app, and as its own line on the invoice for the load. This toll calculator is free to use without an account.
Can I re-invoice toll costs to my customer in Logistivo?
Yes. Invoices in Logistivo are created directly on the load, with free-text lines including quantity, unit price and tax rate – the toll is a line of its own. When you issue the invoice, Logistivo posts it automatically to double-entry accounting.
From what weight do truck tolls apply?
In Germany, Austria, the Netherlands, Belgium, Poland, Czechia, Slovakia, Switzerland and Slovenia from over 3.5 t; in Denmark and for the UK HGV levy from 12 t.
