What this heading covers

Cheese and curd

This heading sits in chapter 04 (Dairy produce; birds' eggs; natural honey; edible products of animal origin, not elsewhere specified or included). Classification is governed by the official chapter notes: a note can pull goods into the chapter or push them out of it.

Subheadings and tariff codes

The code used on a customs declaration has twelve digits. The list below gives the six-digit subheading first, then the twelve-digit codes underneath it. Opening a code shows its definition and the Turkish import duty rows registered against it.

0406.10 — Dairy produce; fresh cheese (including whey cheese), not fermented, and curd

0406.20 — Dairy produce; cheese of all kinds, grated or powdered

0406.30 — Dairy produce; cheese, processed (not grated or powdered)

0406.40 — Dairy produce; cheese, blue-veined and other cheese containing veins produced by Penicillium roqueforti (not grated, powdered or processed)

0406.90 — Dairy produce; cheese (not grated, powdered or processed), n.e.c. in heading no. 0406

Import duty rates under this heading

The ranges below are compiled from the import regime rows registered against the 54 codes under this heading. A range is always calculated within a single column; different country groups are never mixed. The rate that applies to you depends on both the twelve-digit code and the country of origin — open the specific code for the exact value.

The rate becomes an amount as follows: customs duty = customs value (price of the goods + freight to the Turkish border + insurance) × rate. The additional customs duty applies to the same base, not on top of the customs duty. VAT is calculated last, on the customs value plus every tax paid at customs plus the costs incurred up to registration of the declaration.
